Kwartet André
Programme Proposals
Wiener Melange
This fascinating period arrangement of Haydn string quartets for the extremely popular instrumentation of clarinet and strings will be performed alongside one of the three well-known André (this quartet's namesake) arrangements of one of Mozart's most beautiful violin sonatas. Distler was a Viennese violinist and composer and was a favourite pupil of Haydn. Unfortunately he was only able to leave a small oeuvre before his early death and this Trio Concertant constitutes one of his last works.

Bohemian Rhapsody
Kwartet André's research into the Bohemian influence on western classical music continues and has resulted in this fun-filled programme displaying the humour and passion of these talented composers together with the folk song elements from their roots. Perhaps little known today, these three composers were reknowned and respected music figures in the Viennese cultural life at the turn of the 19th century and their music is well worth resuming for today's audiences.
