Baroque Fever
Allan Rasmussen (harpsichord) studied organ and harpsichord at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and graduated with the soloist diploma in 1993. He is organist and music director at Frederiksberg Church in Copenhagen. As a soloist he has performed with several well-known european orchestras, a.o. Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, Arte dei Suonatori, and Concerto Copenhagen. He recieved the Danish Music Critics' Award in 1999. He has made several CD's with historical organs in Denmark, and his recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations will soon be released. He is also a great lover of good red wine.
Peter Spissky (violin) is a concertmaster in Concerto Copenhagen, involved in regular concert tours (eg Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw Ansterdam) and recordings with conductors such as Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Paul Hillier and Andrew Lawrence King. As a guest concertmaster/conductor he appears with Barokkanerne in Oslo and Camerata Drammatica in Reykjavik. He is a regular guest at Göttingen Händel-Festspiele, where apart from chamber music concerts (Tragicomedia and Solamente Naturali) he became a member of the FestspielOrchester under direction of Nicholas McGegan. He is often invited to lead or instruct modern chamber orchestras. With The Baroque Fever ensemble he tours all around Europe. Peter Spissky is a teacher in baroque violin in Music Academy in Malmö and gives Master Classes all around Scandinavia.
Bjarte Eike (violin) studied violin at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and baroque violin with Richard Gwilt in London, where he recieved "Distinction" (highest mark). Bjarte Eike was Artist in residence at the International Festival in Bergen 2008. He is a founding member of the internationally acclaimed ensemble Baroque Fever, and works as a freelance violinist and concertmaster all over Europe in ensembles such as Concerto Copenhagen, Concerto Palatino, I Fagiolini, Dunedin Consort, Caecilia-Concert, Arte dei Suonatori, Altapunta and Bergen Barokk. He is also the Artistic Director of the newly formed Norwegian baroque ensemble Barokksolistene, designed as a dynamic platform where excellent musicians can meet. Eike plays in cross over formations such as the Magnetic North Orchestra, a free improvising string trio called Stryk!, and has developed the project SIWAN together with composer Jon Balke and the Moroccan jazz singer Amina Alaoui. Bjarte Eike has participated in a large number of recordings on labels like ECM,Chandos, Harmonia Mundi, CPO and BIS. He teaches baroque violin at the GriegAcademy in Bergen and is a guest teacher at the Royal Danish Music conservatory.
Thomas Pitt (cello) graduated with honours from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, then went to The Netherlands to study with Wouter Möller at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. He was awarded the soloists diploma in 1998. After graduating Thomas has built up a busy performing and recording career, working as solo-cellist with groups such as Concerto Copenhagen (Lars Ulrik Mortensen), Holland Baroque Society (also member of the artistic committee), Ensemble 1700, The Academy of Ancient Music, the Gabrieli Consort (Paul Mc Creesh) and The English Concert. He has worked as soloist and director with the Polish group Arte dei Suonatori, and is active as a chamber musician on numerous significant international stages with The Amsterdam String Quartet, Baroque Fever, Magnetic North Orchestra and others. Since 2005 he has worked at the Royal Danish Academy of Music as teacher of baroque cello, chamber music and performance practice and in 2007 he became associate professor and head of the Early Music department at this same conservatorium. His latest hobby of playing the viola da gamba is in danger of becoming a regular part of his professional activities.
